hmmm, well i that almost indefinetly rules out spun bearing. Lifter is looking more and more to be the culprit
dude that news made my mood go from freaking horrible to still bad but way better, because i can fix a freaking lifter...a spun bearing would be shot car...and travis doing something stupid...
unless you mean that whirrring noise too. (though i suppose thats just your accessories.)

This is a general guidline for GM pushrod engines. Open the hood and lay out some heavy paper or something around one side of the engine. Remove the valve cover and find the size of the nut on the rocker arm. Start the engine and use a ratchet and socket to loosen one rocker nut very slowly until you hear the tappet clatter. Tighten the nut just until the tappet shuts up, then tighten the nut and additional 1/4 turn.
Do this for every rocker stud nut, repeat for other side.
