ok I have intake and flowmaster with a catco cat and 02 sim. Running fine till it started misfiring. Checked the coils, they were fine, then checked the ignition control module. Bingo, got it replaced under warranty. Car is running fine till it starts running terrible, no power, and sometimes nothing happens when I press the throttle. Dealership says its the EGR and wants 500$. Bought a new EGR from autozone and installed, tightened down and car is running great no problems. Just recently after running for about 10-15 minutes the car will "lurch" for a split second under load and then run real slow. Does NOT feel like a missfire. when revving and letting off the gas or in between shifts the car backfires real bad. after running then sitting I sometimes have to turn the car on and off a few times before it starts. At night after driving for about 15 minutes if I pop the hood the driver's side manifold has a glow. any ideas please help I cant afford the dealership.

Re: Need help....any ideas?
Just a guess, but since you said
"At night after driving for about 15 minutes if I pop the hood the driver's side manifold has a glow"
Have you checked for a clogged/plugged cat?
It's downstream from where the manifold is, and if it's clogged up and gas isn't escaping then it could be making the whole exhaust system upstream of it really hot.
Also, dude I know how much it sucks when you car is broke, everytime my 'amaro broke I couldn't think about anything else, couldn't work, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat until I knew it was fixed (I fixed it myself) but you have to give us more then 2 hours to respond. :-)Last edited by modulation; 11-09-2006, 05:15 PM.

Re: Need help....any ideas?
Yes I agree.
I love my '94 Camaro to death, it was my first real car and taught me alot.
But GM's start to suck when they get over 100,000 miles. I don't care how good you take care of them they turn into creek boxes and tons of **** goes wrong with them because they used the cheapest parts they could. WTF is with using Metric and American size sockets too?
Lets just say my new car isn't American.
(Get your **** back together American car manufacturers!)
What the ****ing **** man, I can't ****ing cuss on this website. What the **** happened to the 1st amendment.
This is Bull****.Last edited by modulation; 11-09-2006, 05:22 PM.

Re: Need help....any ideas?
Well first I'm talking cars made in the 90's, but many people would agree with me about 80's american cars too.
I can believe that some lucky people have no mechanical faults if you drive on the interstate or in great weather/temperatures all the time with little stop and go traffic. You are very lucky, and the exception.
But it's all the little things, windshield motors getting slower, creeks from everywhere as body panels expand and contract and bolts losen, switches breaking, plastics cracking. There are just so many signs of using the cheapest parts possible.
All this stuff happens to American cars if you are lucky enough not to have any mechnical problems first. The majority of foreign cars hold up much better.
The 90's Fbody is what a Vette was in the 80's, and before GM fixed it they killed it. Look what they (American car compaines) did to cars like the Impala and the Monte Carlo. Look what all the American auto companies have done with the great cars of the past. They are either not being produced or they've turned them into fwd pieces of ****.
You have to admit American car compains are playing catchup. Look at all the news out of Motor city these days.

Re: Need help....any ideas?
Yeah the car will sit though. All these car troubles and a high school job really drained me. I only have about 200$ in my bank account. Luckily my brother bought a civic so I can drive his old saturn. It has 140k miles but I will do an oil change + basic tune up on that and drive it VERY easy. should get me by for about 3 months. My dad keeps pressing that I find out how much MORE a used v8 swap would be vs. a V6. When he was younger he swapped mustang motors all the time.
