I just bought a 1999 firebird a couple months ago and was wonidering about recalls. How do recalls work? Does it only apply to the original owner? If there is a recall for my car, can i take it to a local dealer and theyll fix it for free? In my research i found that my car, a manual trans, has a recall for the clutch assembly. Will a dealer be able to tell if the recall has been performed as I have no history on the car myself
there is some website that lets you check. I believe its a GM website that you can email a gm rep, they will ask for some info on the car, like the vin and stuff, and then get back with you. I can't remember the site to save my life, but i had a recall on an older car awhile back and found out this way.
