  • Is it possible?

To run high 13's on an NA car? Heads will be port/polished along with a valve job, here is the rundown of parts:

    Bottom End:
    ARP Connecting Rod Bolts
    ARP Main Stud Kit
    Clevite77 Rod Bearing Set
    Clevite77 Main Bearing Set
    Stock Rods
    Stock Pistons

    Top End:
    Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Cam
    Comp Cams Hydraulic Lifters
    Comp Cams High Load Valvesprings
    Comp Cams Hi-Tech Pushrods
    ARP Head Stud Kit
    Comp Cams Valvespring Retainers
    Clevite77 Cam Bearing Set

Along with tubular manifolds (getting them with my salvage motor :D), intake, high flow cat and flowmaster exhaust, brand new surfaced flywheel and clutch assembly, and the good driver mod. I am not expecting the T-5 to last long with this power but transmission swaps are easy and T-5's can be had around here for as little as 300. What do you think? High 13's low 14's Possible with this setup? I don't have the money to go boosted and I just want a solid motor. I may also get forged rods but from what I have read stockers are plenty strong.

    Re: Is it possible?

you would be in the blower price range to get 13s NA. My 2 cents......If i could get back the money ive put into the v6....i would take it and sell my car and buy a LT1/LS1. LS1 is 13s stock. Then when you start thinking about doing what you want to do to your v6....but to a v8 instead.....you're talking serious power. and quick 11 second passes. Thats the route i would go if i havnt done anything to the car yet... I know people love the whole unique deal....but why, when you can spend an extra grand, get a LT1 and be way ahead of the V6 game already before you start modding. Thats the best HP/$ ratio......

      damn
      that sucks
      V6 F-bodies are so slow.
I should just buy a ricer and intake + exhaust + weight reduction and go run 14's. My brothers 99 civic 5spd got a 14.2 with intake :O

spend your money on some other mods than these.

LOL! Don't worry I will never go rice. Even though F-body's are a pain to work on and at times I am almost to the point of giving up and selling my car, I will never sell it. I love it too much.

I posted about a car that did 12's N/A many yrs back here & peeps bytched about it, but then most of them have baield so who cares about them? anyway.... a search might work depepnding on how long ago it was. I do remember that it no intake, just the cam was touched onthe engine, the tranny was built like a tank, and it had like 5.56 gears or someting like that, full interior. There was an article about it in HPP.

                Re: Is it possible?

V8 is the way to go...

                Ive had 2 LT1's already

                1. 383 stroker 96 Z28, ran 10.21
                2. stock supercharged 94 Z28, ran 12.5's all day

i cant beat my moms minivan in this slow V6. So this winter, LS1 is going in for good.

                  Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Cam......why?

You are better off researching cams and finding something better, like an abbotts NA cam or something. You are also going to need heads and intake...so maybe look into the heads/cam/intake package from abbotts for around $2k I think it is right now

Ya but its not as sexy as your fbody :) And it certainly doesn't slide out sideways when you kick the gas pedal.

Heh a friend of mine is a DSM nut and had a Talon TSI that would take a stock Z28. I was happy to hear her admit that its a different world though, and in reality her Crank Walkin 7bolt 2G motor isn't the same thing.
