so i went to start the car today and the security light came on. I thought that was strange because I dont have anytype of alarm on the car at all. I was late for work so i said i would worrie about it later. I started driving it and it went off. Get off work start it up light came on started driving goes away what could this be.

i got the same problem with mine except mine rarly goes off...its always on...i dont know how to fix it tho...people said try a differnt key but that hasnt worked for me

just happened to me. first, clean your key, or try your spare. if niether of those work it might be your lock-cylinder. what will happen is it will start coming on while driving usually, then it will come on when you go to start it, and it wont let you start it. you have to wait like 3 minutes for the light to go off then try again. you can by-pass it in 10 minutes, thats all i did. search a little, theres alot of info.

If your key is not a genuin GM key, like mine wasn't, the resistors are made cheaper and go bad. I went to a locksmith and picked up a GM key for $25, and my security system hasn't acted up since. (it got to the point where my car would start about 1/3 of the time.)

Take the car to get it serviced, its the little chip on the keyit's loose... once the car is started like 50+ times with a boken key then it will LEAVE YOU FOR DEAD. i was at a gas station and i guess i hit my 50th time and the car wouldn't start for the life of me so i was their all night, i took a nap and a cop came by and helped me out... you don't wanna get stuck it will just need a new ignition thinggy

You are lucky you were able to drive off with it on.

My Security Light has come on once and once only thank God. I locked my doors, but the windows were down. I couldn't get my keys out my pocket when I got back to the car so I reached in and pulled the doorhandle to open it. I stuck the key in the ignition and turned it to Acc. and the Security Light came on, I thought it was because I didn't unlock my doors, and it thought I was a burglar or something.

Needless to say, I tried to start my car and it wouldn't crank. It wouldn't even make a sound as if it were trying to start. I was stranded in a parkling lot for 30 minutes, had called one of my friends to come pick me up. I was about to get out and jump in his car when all of a sudden the light went off, and she cranked right up. I had to laugh at the situation I was so mad.

i had never seen that security light go on in my car also untill one day when i tried to start my car, and it just wouldnt start...:mad:

last time mine went off it was cuz i was having problems with bad grounds. Open your hood and check every body ground you can. Especially the two right by your battery. take a wire brush, scrape off the body and the connector and reattach...
