Re: Idle?
idle speed depends on engine temp. At different temps it is suppose to idle at a certain rpm. does it idle at 1200 all the time?

Re: Idle?
hold on, I will upload a stock manual 98 bin and get the idle settings.
Do you have a manual or an auto? It looks like the manuals have slightly higher numbers when compared to the auto
Also 900 with a fully warmed up engine is still slightly high. I can see a cold engine idling at 900 in gear, but after driving for a bit it shouldn't be 900Last edited by 97rs4life; 11-20-2006, 06:44 PM.

Re: Idle?
Idle speed is not adjustable. It also does not vary with temperature except in the very early stages of warm-up.
If your idle is 1200 rpm, the engine has either been improperly modified or you have a vacuum leak.
The factory Service Manual has good troubleshooting instructions for improper idle speed. You might take a look at that.
Is the check engine light on?
