  • ignition control module wire harness

hey guys well i finally figured out what my problem has been. well just to bring everyone up to speed, i have been noticing my car will just all of a sudden die out, and then it will try to crank for a while and then start back up, well i had been through everything in the ignition process (icm, coils, ignition wires, spark plugs) all without having any kind of ses light. so i was leaving work tonight and my car just all of a sudden died on me, so i was gonna try to swap out my coils and icm, but when i took off the module i noticed that the one wire on the harness was broken completely in half. was wondering if anyone new where i could get a harness for the icm besides the dealer.

Can you just splice a repair into the wire?

well i did, but its really close to the harness and im just afraid that it will come loose. i also saw that some of the other wires are looking a little brittle.

Solder that puppy back together, cover it with liquid plastic, let it dry and call it good.

They aren't getting off topic really, just trying to give you solutions and saving you money all at the same time. I would really suggest soldering the wire back together and putting liquid plastic over it, and doing that to any other wires that you noticed were brittle.

But, if you feel safer just buying an entire new wiring harness, I would check here:

            http://shop.autopartsfair.com

If they don't have it, search around for some other online parts stores.
Good luck with finding it and fixing your car. I would have found one for your car, though you didn't really give much information on what car you have or engine size or anything so couldn't really do a search for a specific one, sorry.

            Sincerely,
            Justin

Could always call around to some junk yards, or maybe check ebay or gmpartsdirect.com
