  • changed to synthetic, now tic on cold start

well as it says, i got a 95 3.8 with 71k and i just put synthetic in it for the first time. im getting a tic on cold starts that goes away when i hit the gas some. is it just thicker oil? i usually use 5 or 10-w30.

also someone told me that i cant go back to regular oil cause it will ruin my seals. is he blowin smoke up my *** cause i dont wanna pay twice as much on oil changes to have a tic when it doesnt help much. -nick-

my car has 69K on it, and i bought it over the summer. first oil change i changed it to synthetic, noticed the power difference, but no "ticking" noise.

let it run through the engine for 500 miles or so and see if its still there.

oh yea, its not a good idea to change back to regular, your friend is right. some people say otherwise, but your seals get used to the chem's from synthetic, and washing them away with regular oil is not good at all.

oh yea, one bone to pick with you. why the hell wouldnt you use 10W-30? your oil cap says 10W-30, use 10W-30.
