    1) what caused it to overheat and have rust in the coolant?
neglecting the coolant? not changing it?
    2) rust in your radiator is not making your car misfire

If my engine blew a head gasket and got coolant in the crankcase.... I would either rebuild it, or think of getting a replacement engine

the mechanic did a check up my car looking for a possible blown head gasket and a missfire. I said that the radiator lost coolant because it was possible evaporting from the blown head gasket? I also did get my coolant flushed before this all happened but didnt seem to do much. My heater would also get cold but he said my heater core was fine. Somehting along those lines. He also said that i had a loose wire boot on my #5 cylinder and recently i change my wires and plugs out and thought we installed them very properly..

        evaporating? more like burned off
Sounds like the mechanic didnt do much at all if all he found was the #5 boot wire wasnt on good enough and that the heater core was fine?
        who flushed the coolant?
If your heater was only blowing hot air there is something obviously wrong with your cooling system (bad thermostat, bad pressure, bad water pump, clogged system, air in the cooling system, etc...etc..)
What did he find out about the blown head gasket? surely he found something!!

did you get a code abotu the misfire as if so that code should tell you which cylinder (i.e which side the head gasket blew on).. alot of the times you only damage one side.

then ask him to do a copression test on that cylidner: if you get real low dead comression that will indicate you have the blow head gasket (and possibly the valves need cleaning up)... but if you get a little compression that tries to build up that is indicating something else

take a look at teh last copuple of posts in this tread from a few weeks back when mine blew it should help out.. I thought my problem was just gasket but needed to clean up the valves also.. as far as reapcling the radiator only need to do it if you want to keep the car for a long long time, probbably can get by with just a good clanign & flush

            http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=76680

p.s.. it is not really that hard of a job to do yourself if it is on the driverside (not sure what car you have but assuming newer 96-02 V6 3.8) if it is the passanger side it is a little more cramped in there but still not that tough... can save a bunch of money as a head gassket set is probbaly $100 to the parts house and the griding of the valves is maybee $150 to the machine shop... so $250 out of pocket
defintley agree with slow6 if the head gasket blew & some overheat would recomend going for a new enginge.. probaly looking at $2000 to have a meachinc put in an enginge with 60-70K on it.. only reason to reapcle the head gasket on a blow enginge is if you are really tight for funds or like me an just looking for soemthing to do in the grage

            good luck

The heater blowing cold air is just what happens when your car overheats like slow6 said its something in ur cooling system like the stat. or maybe air in the line so the cool air coming out isnt anything wrong with ur hvac system its you cooling system....i bet it gets hot again once its close to the normal running temp right? check ur cooling system id start with maybe air in the like or the stat.
