I have mine in a 2 gauge pod, along with a vacuum/boost gauge. It is an electrical gauge. The sending unit is mounted to the fuel rail, with a couple of wires that come through the firewall to a box under the dash, then a couple of wires up to the gauge.
I like it a lot. Mine is a '98 Camaro. I got the gauge from summitracing, it came with everything. Around $180. Electrical are higher than mechanical.
There was a fuse in the side of the dash for the instrument panel lights, so it was easy to tap into it for the gauge lights, so they operate off the instrument panel dimmer.

Yes, the gauge should come with the sending unit. The cheapest I found for electrical was $180. Check any of our sponsors, or summitracing.com, or jegs.com.
Mechanical is cheaper, but you can't mount it inside. Unless you get an isolator. That might be a separately available item.
