• Erratic psi reading

Here is the deal; my car (stock 1998 5-spd 3.8L) has always shown 180 on the temp gauge, and 60 psi on the oil. A couple of days ago the temp came up to about 190 and the oil pressure dropped to about 50. So I changed the oil, flushed the cooling system, and replaced the belt (yesterday). Now I am getting an erratic psi reading on the gauge. It goes from 40 at idle, to 60 when driving. The temp ranges from what I would call 175 to 185. The "SES" light came on today and is staying on. Does the computer need to "recalibrate" itself, or do I have a serious problem?
I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.<p>The rest I have blown.

The oil pressure thing has been talked about a lot.

Get the code scanned, and find out what it is.

My oil pressure has actually increased since I did a small mod: removing the air silencer
runs a little above 60 at idle sometimes, and a little below other times.
