So my car has been in the shop that rebuilt my engine for about 2 1/2 weeks now, And they just called to tell me they can't figure it out...so im going to have to go to a dealership. They think it has something to do with the sending unit from my key. (It's not being recognized by the ECM) and they are having troubles with the alarm. Has anyone else ever had this problem? The engine runs well, but its something electrical-the car won't even turn over, the key just turns. When we push to jump-start it, it goes off immediately after it starts...still sounds pretty good though (the engine). Any help would be appreciated?

Re: No start up, no search results, no diagnostic
If there was a key/security problem the engine would still turn over and the engine would not run.
What you have is backwards. The engine won't turn over, but will run if you push start it.
Whoever installed the engine after the rebuild couldn't have put the starter wiring together properly, or the starter is just too weak to turn over the rebuilt and tight engine. Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)

symptoms are of the security/key going out but god only knows what happened when some hick goes digging under a hood.

Re: No start up, no search results, no diagnostic
So i'm going to pick up my car, working, at the dealership, for a nice little fee of $420 dollars to replace the ignition switch, they also had to make a new key, and there $96 in there just for the diagnostic. He said something about the guys who rebuilt my engine don't have the right scanning tools to correctly scan my car's computer?...thought that strange since they rebuilt my engine. I have a warranty on it that hasn't expired yet-do you think i should take the bill to them and try to get them to pay it? I had a problem earlier this year with them when a hose inside my engine popped off that they didn't replace because they only replace "what they needed to" to save me money-and they don't cover the things they don't replace, of course. So now it is costing me more money in the long run...I wish they would have just done a complete swap out...ugh...Red 96 3.8 Liter Camaro
SLP Cold Air Intake
Flowmaster Exhaust
2 12\" Pioneer Subs in a custom box
900 Watt Rockford Fosgate
Kenwood Deck
new engine at 102k!
http://www.cardomain.com/id/red38fbod96
