I got my car back today after getting the ignition switch replaced, and driving home I noticed a lag in power, along with my SES light coming on periodically, until finally it just stays there, and blinks occasionally. I also noticed a smell like something was burning (not inside) coming from the car. I know i need a new EGR, What else that might cause these things?

So i just took my ride out to show my buddy the power loss i was having, and there was none! I'm not sure how it happened but before i picked my car up i don't think it had been driven for a couple of weeks-just started and turned off...could this have caused it? My SES light is still on, replacing EGR tomorrow and we'll see if it goes off. If not, back to the shop for tests.

Dude my car does pretty close to the same thing! lol. One minute it'll have a power loss and will feel like a V6 Grand am, I shut the car off, and later, she burns out all the way to mid-2nd like normal!! lol.

Of course, my catalytic converter is shot, and I replaced my fuel filter. I should be cutting the cat off and putting a glasspack (for now ) in place, and I'll let you know if the cat did anything...

my old 94 Grand Am had the 3100 60 degree motor, the 3.4 is basically an opened version.

However, I have the 3800 90 degree motor, big difference...

But don't confused 3.4L with 3400, because they are two different engine codes, last I checked.
