  • Rear Deck Lid Rust???

    1993 Firebird.

When I open the deck lid little pieces of flaky rust fall out of the hole where the lift strut is mounted to the deck lid. My question is, what is in there that could be rusting out, and is there anything that I can do about it. This car does not have one speck of rust any place else.

    Thanks...

Yes, sorry. I hate to call it a hatchback, because it really is not. But, yes, the hatchback.

The rust must be from the strut attach hardware because the "decklid" is made from composites (no metal).
