            Re: Rear Defroster

no its not dude. i can turn mine on, it'll run for like 5 or 10 mins and turn off by itself and i can turn right back on for 5-10 minutes. I'm almost positive its working the way its supposed to cuz EVERYTHING worked on my car when i got it some 50000 miles ago and thats what it did back then.

              Re: Rear Defroster

Tom Rs is right, all that needs to be done is replacing the breaker with a fuse. It solved my problem. Now it turns on for about 10 min. the first time and about 7 min. every time after that.

its really annoying that it only stays on for about 2-3 minutes.

                      Re: Rear Defroster

Hey, feel special at the least. My 97 doesn't even have a rear defroster. :(

I don't see what the big deal about it is though, I hardly ever use my rear view mirror to look behing me. Side mirrors are all that's needed for backing up, and if you are trying to change lanes, just speed up a lot and then if nothing is seen in the side mirror it's safe to get over.

The rear defroster is made to stay on for less time with each use of a consecutive time, because too much heat to a cold piece of glass can cause it to crack. Have you ever thrown water on your windshield in the morning when it's frosted/iced up and heard something crack? It's not good to put too much heat on anything that's frozen.

                        Re: Rear Defroster

At least you can get your rear defrost to work. When I press the button no light comes on and nothing happens on the rear window. I've replaced the amp with a new amp and then again with a fuse. It's still a no go.

that's a bad comparison...the rear defroster changes the temperature of the glass a hell of alot slower than a bucket of hot water
