Similar problem that I just quit ****ing with:

Set it up (or thought I did) to light up HIGH with both lights, and low with just the green light, but now my low lights up both, and high does nothing ;p

Ahhh well I was getting frusterated so I just left it.

First here are some designs I have got to work. The first one is probably similar to what you are trying to do, the second, is what I have. They have high and low settings. This is for a GTP though, which should be similar, but I went from the fuse box, so that part is different.

FAN SWITCH

You do have a voltage source for your LED right? Remember, you are basically grounding the circuit allowing the fans and LED to turn on.

You have a 3V switch? You need to make sure your switch can handle the current. You might try a smaller resistance, but I think you should have somewhere around 20mA flowing at that resistance, it *should* light the LED.

If you have SPST non-lighted switch you should have two terminals on the switch, correct? You want the wire from PCM and the LED/resistor to connect to the same terminal. Since the fan control works fine, you alteast have the first half correct. The other end of the LED/resistor circuit should connect to a +12V source. The cigarette lighter is an easy place to tap in. The second terminal on the switch should be connected to a chassis ground. You could again use the cigarette lighter if you wish.

The 3.4L single fan setup is a pretty simple layout. This diagram shows how I have mine wired up. The green part of the circuit should be fine as your fan control already works.Diagram

Does the LED have a built in resistor?? The stand alone resistor may result in too little current to light the LED?? If you don't have the system already installed, you could test right at the battery. If the LED/resistor setup across the battery works, then it is something in your wiring with the switch. If it doesn't light up then the LED/resistor is causing the problem.

Thanks guys... after banging my head against the wall for a bit. I thought about it some more. Figured I would try other resistor values. That was the trick. After playing with 3 other resistors. I found that in my application, a 1/4 watt (I think 470ohm) resistor worked for me. How... I don't know!!! I have no clue about electronics.... but that's why I have all you guys :D

Raven... It is working and lighting up right now. Just have to pipe the wire through the firewall and then pull the dash out for other "tweaks" :D You'll see all the changes soon [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

As of right now... I would like ask the electronic brains to come up with a list of varibles from Radio Shack that will work with both applications(3.8 and 3.4) Also, the wire diagrams are good for people that know how to read them, just need to make the "dumber" if you can. ie. just like you would see it layed out in life. Not jumping other wires or icons that don't look like switches or resistors. Make it look like something I would see if I layed my parts directly on that sheet of paper.

yeah my led's light up at the wrong time, so i'll have to look at it with dee's setup, thanks... i'll let ya know if it works...
