my serpentine belt keeps falling off. i initially replaced the old belt, and thought it was just the old belt, but it fell off again. and every time start and turn off the car the belt wants to come off the tensioner. has this happend to anyone, could it be the tensioner, or the pully. if its the whole tensioner, how do you change it?? please help

is there pressure on the tensioner, like when changing the belt do you really have to put some force down on the nut?

yea i have to use the 1" rachet to get enough leverage to pull it down, but is there supposed to be some play with it when i have it down all the way?? and the belt is the right size

Most likely its the whole tensioner assembly, had the exact same problem.

Well, Im assuming you have a 3.8L? Well you really cant fix it but rather replace it. When I bought it last year it cost around 90 dollars.

If you do go and buy it and replace it, You will probably have to get new heater elbows which can be found in any HELP! section of an auto parts store because usually you cant get them out of the old one without damage.

Thanks BLLDOG :o while some of my advice may be seen as "sketchy" I succesfully have done 3 engine swaps and all have been good so I can't be THAT bad, pertaining to your comment and his belt problem:
Well since the belt is rubber you could try running it over a bic lighter a few times dont melt it just enough to help the rubber shrink up some

PS - Just messing with you BLLDOG
