How can you tell if there is coolant in your oil? I checked engine oil today and I expected it to be black since its got about 2,200 miles on it. but the oil was like a brown but wasn't very dark.

Re: oil
Coolant in oil will usually be milky white/yellowish in some areas. Brown is just oil that is starting to break down. Black is totally useless oil that needs to be changed. Non-synthetic oil really shouldn't be black until run 4-5k miles. Synthetic oil will hold up much better, last twice the mileage, and not really turn black. My \'98 Camaro

My \'98 Tacoma
