Ok i've posted about this before for some reason my car is running rich i've tried everything to fix it but new injectors. Ive cleaned the egr, put in new 02's ran about every kind of injector cleaner but nothing seems to work.. should i try the injectors next??? also if i do replace them i want to put better ones in and since i plan on getting a tune what size injectors do you recommend or is it pointless without internal motor work? any help is good? lol\

Re: Running rich any other ideas?
Have you checked for vacuum leaks? They are notorious for making a car run rich.
Edit: Also, it's pointless for you to get bigger injectors unless you are FI, N20, or have non-stock internals. Getting a tune though, is never a bad thing. If I were you, I would see about getting the injectors cleaned and then go getting it tuned.

Re: Running rich any other ideas?
As for the injector cleaning, I believe it's a few hundred dollars (but I could be totally wrong on this) or possibly less. I've never had someone clean my injectors.
And finding a vacuum leak is simple....just start the car, pop the hood and look all around the engine bay listening closesly for any whistling noises. Also, you can spray soapy water onto your vacuum lines while the car is running and air bubbles will form if there is a leak anywhere.

Did you ever get your code scanned?
even at autozone prices, the money you have spent already could have gotten a shop to diagnose it and you would have an answer

Re: Running rich any other ideas?
but i already averaged about 13.3 mpg once already so i prefer not to take that off and make it worse im trying to figure out why its so bad....ive went through 110 bucks in gas since xmas and cant find why whats the cheapest easiest way to check injectors? I dunno if this helps any but if im just sitting there it still runs rich like u can see the dark smoke putting out but its not horribly bad until im actaully driving and it hits about 4,000 rpm then it just lets it all out it leave a nice lil cloud of smoke i hate it i can smell it running rich all the time like at red lights give it about 4 seconds and its seeping into the car.....i really wanna get this fixed so any suggestions are alot of help....thanks I'm thinking about just getting new injectors 24lbs then tune it for them would i notice any performance gains from the injectors? cause i might as well get bigger ones cause later down the road im thinkin about nitrous....does anyone think i should try the tps sensor or would i get a code if it was that? or any other sensors i should know of?Last edited by black95maro; 01-06-2007, 03:28 PM.

Re: Running rich any other ideas?
could be a bad fuel pressure regulator
pull the vac line off it, if gas comes out or it smells like gas in the line its faulty (the diaphragm (SP?) rips)91 Mustang LX 2.3 Turbo - T5<br />-daily driver, 210hp/300ft-lbs (outdated)<br />94 Ranger Splash 2.3 Turbo - T5<br />-serious build up, shooting for 400+hp<br />95 Camaro 3.4 auto -hers<br />-she\'s workin on it

Re: Running rich any other ideas?
bigger injectors alone (when not needed) will not gain you power
how long has it been since you changed the o2s?
things like oil and gas in your exhaust will sometimes kill o2s and cats
edit: I see that you just changed o2s. Do you have an exhaust leak or intake leak? You can use like carb cleaner or starting fluid spray or a fog machine to check for leaks.2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC!
