Re: cleaing fuel injectors??
don't even think about scrubbing them with anything. also, taking them out sometimes screws you cause they dry out and no longer work. weird huh? just use a cleaner in your gas. I would recommend having a shop do it though cause they have a tool which by passes your fuel system which works the best.

yes. an injector balance test would tell you weather they are good, dirty or bad. i don't know of a way for the do-it-yourselfer to do this

Re: cleaing fuel injectors??
When I did my motor swap the 2001 injectors were different than the 99 so I had to use the 99 injectors. I just dipped a q-tip in gas and cleaned the holes in the injector...car runs nice and smooth now...oh maybe because the motor has less than 1,000 miles....

Originally posted by BobbyZ72You have two ways of cleaning them, take them out and hose them down with carb cleaner. OR you can rig something up as i did usuing a hose and slip it over the top part of the injector, pressurize the hose with the type of carb cleaner you buy by the gallon, apply 12 volts to the injector, it will clean the inside of the injector. On my injectors the inside was clean, i know this because the cleaner came out clean. The only dirty part of my injectors were the bottom parts, so i recommend just pull them out, and hose them with carb cleaner and use qtips, and wipe with a rag. Your right, about the cleaners, they dont work, i used every type i could find, some times 2 of the same kind. Then i pulled my injectors, the pics attached are the before and after i cleaned my injectors. As you can see, the cleaners did nonthing. The dirty injector you see was not the dirtest one, it was the last one i had when i desided to take the pics. My car now runs SOOO smooth i dont even beleve its the same car. I also removed my egr, next time i pull them out im hopping they will be clean.

What year is your car? If it's a 99+ then your injectors won't come off the fuel rail.
