Stock Fuel Pump Flow Rating (LPH)?

    Stock Fuel Pump Flow Rating (LPH)?

    I need to change my fuel pump, but do not want to buy a stock one because then I'd have to buy the whole assembly (above $200). I am trying to find an aftermarket one that is a direct fit, but am not even sure if the lowest 155LPH will be too much fuel.

    I was looking at Holley's fuel pumps

    Looks like I have to take off the exhaust and rear axle assembly to drop the fuel tank (I do not want to do the trap door method).....fun times.

    And yes....I am sure it's the fuel pump.

        those may help a bit....you dont have to remove all that ****, you can cut an access pannel from the top inside your trunk....its a ***** of a job but a lot easier then going about it the other way

            Just get walbro 255. You can open that yellow plastic box and swap just a pump . its $100 or less.

              like iGoRa said, get a walbro 255lph one and you will be set for life even if you do add performance parts

                you should just be able to throw in that walbro and not have excess fuel problems. theres a hose that returns excess fuel to the tank and it's plenty big enuf to handle 255lph.

                  Oh did not know about the excess hose. Walbro it is, thank you everyone.

                    + you shouldnt worry about fuel pressure at the pump if its over 55psi its all good, thats why you have Fuel Pressure Regulator for.

                      I was looking over at ftv6 and they had a post for sale modified walbro pumps because "a problem that standard walbro pumps faced...running your car out of gas when you have a few gallons left in the tank" Whats the deal with this?

                      BTW my pump is starting to go. Loud humming sound and gets louder when its low on fuel. Only have 88k is this normal to go out now?

                        That is for the 99-02 fbodies with the plastic tanks instead of the metal ones like the 93-98 guys have. Depending on how you mount the walbro in the 99+ tanks, you might be running out of fuel with a 1/4 tank left yet because the fuel pump isn't low enough in the tank. It is more of a problem with the grand prix crowd than our fbody crowd. Some 99-02 guys have had a few problems though

                        I have a normal walbro hi-perf pump in my 97 and have ran the gas down way into the red on the gas gauge.

                        Also if you just mount your pump lower on the fuel pump assembly then you can run your tank lower in gas. I zip tied mine as low as I could on the rail to prevent this.
