  • Sensor/clip/plug thing under brake fluid?

i was working on my car either today and i noticed a clip just kinda sitting out, and noticed it goes into another clip into the brake fluid tank, i have no idea how it came off or how long it has been off. I clipped it back on and i cant seem to find out what it does.

My guess is it's just a sensor that tells me if my brake fluid is low?
if thats the case why didnt i get a check light on my guages?

Pretty sure that's it. My front brake pads are near gone and I was getting an intermittent "Brake" light, like I left the parking brake on. Fluid in the reservoi r was low, adding a bit to tide me over killed the light.
