• started porting my heads!!!

I got my extra set of heads in the mail today and started messing around w/an intake port today for the heck of it and was very happy, stock i was suprised to see how low they flowed compared to what i've seen but was also suprised to see that they didnt back up and flowed all the way up to .600 lift...anyways stock flow is:
lift cfm
.100 55
.200 114
.300 156
.400 177.5
.450 184.7
.500 185.9
.550 186.2
.600 188.9

after that my dad put one of his custom valve jobs and did a little bit of grinding on the heads and ground the stock valve, he didnt sand the ports out, just left them rough ground and they flowed:
lift cfm gain/cfm
.100 58.3 +3.3
.200 122.2 +6.2
.300 172.1 +16.1
.400 197.4 +19.9
.450 206.5 +21.8
.500 213.1 +27.2
.550 214.9 +28.7
.600 215.6 +26.7
thats still w/the stock 1.800 valve and rough ground, when i get the bigger intake valves and finish the ports out it should get real interesting!!!

Good to know we dont need aftermarket heads on our engines... Those are really good flow numbers. Now, if we could just get the Vortech combustion chamber design...

Nice work, keep us updated!

My dad has been porting heads for about 25-30 years and he has been doing this full time for about 6 years or so, he does the port work by hand w/a air powered die grinder and carbide bits...firebird1 we can port your heads but right now we have a lot of work in the shop and it wouldnt be right away that we could get to them, but give us a call on the number in my sig and we can get you set up!! and like i said above these are still rough ground w/a stock sized valve, when i get some bigger valves these flow numbers will be quite a bit better!!
