I am gonna say no I don't think so since the blocks and such are different. Just get the valvebody upgrade done for $300 and don't worry about it again. Your tranny isn't shot just because of it. It will just wear on your tranny over time if you don't fix it and eventually lead to blowing your trans
ugh how long u think i could go b4 i need to worry bout the trans cuz 300$ is not smthing i can spend right now...and yeah a new egr at autozone is 148.99 :(
you should be able to get a EGR valve much cheaper than that and it is a really easy install ( think 2 bolts 10mm or somethign like that)... the other temporary fix ( may clear the 1406 codes ) is to take the EGR valve & EGR pipe to exhaust mainfold off and clean the areas where the carbon has built up ( I can't remeber what to use to clean it with but ask the guys at autozone or whereever and I am sure that will know what chemcical to use).. as the 1406 code is not necessairly saying bad EGR valve but rather it may be saying a slow EGR valve ( something like pintle postion?? ) which I belive is caused by the build up... anyways I had the same problem on my 97 3.8 and I cleaned it up real good and it was good for a few days and then the codes came back on.
