2 codes left...HELP???

went to autozone today and got 2 codes left out of 6 i had b4 i got inspected...1 code reads egr performance and the other reads 4x4 lamp circiut short to battery what the hell is that?? and what can i do?

A P1870 code means the transmission is seeing a slip condition. Sometimes it points to the TCC clutch not working properly. Sounds like the transmission needs to come out. See if you can get hold of a GM diagnostic chart for this code and it will make more sense to you.

P1406 EGR Valve Position Sensor Performance. Check for carbon buildup

p1870- time for the sonnax valvebody upgrade to your trans. My bro had to do it last year to his firebird. Very common problem with our 4l60e trans and there are tons of threads on this. Doesn't mean your trans is shot, but it is something you want to fix before it does effect your trans down the road.

p1406- EGR is failing. Not sure why they told you crap about 4x4 lighting circuit, lol. Either the tube is plugged with carbon or the EGR is not opening properly anymore. You can delete this and use a egr sim from zzperformance.com or block it off and tune the code out with hptuners. Or buy a replacement EGR either used or new.

valvebody upgrade in the trans is about $300 usually. But you are good for the life of the tranny on that part

egr sim and block off plates run about 80 buck I think from zzp. Unless you find a used egr or something. New egr's are pretty expensive.

ugh how long u think i could go b4 i need to worry bout the trans cuz 300$ is not smthing i can spend right now...and yeah a new egr at autozone is 148.99 :(

What about the block off plate? If your comfortable with it see if you can't clean some of the carbon buildup off to see if that helps.

u can wait a little while, but I would do it as soon as you can afford it. Your 1-2 shift will get worse and worse if u don't. On long trips the code will come up again.

DONT USE THE SIM !!! i used it and my car threw a p1406. its trash. get it tuned out thats what i did

then he would have to buy a 97 pcm which would cost even more though. I haven't heard to many people say the sim didn't work. Maybe you had a defective one or something.

well you can delete the egr and just buy block off plates for 10 bucks, but the egr code will be set and so the SES light would be on all the time.

anybody know the emission exempt rule? as in the car or truck being a certain age or what not? i always thought that if it was 25 years or older it was exempt but now my brother tells me he heard that if the car came with emissions related componets it has to have them on the car...
