Ok so i know when it starts to get cold and will snow i need ot lock my headlights in an "up" position, Well i bought the car from a local dealership and he had no clue how to do this, With snow impenging onto Virginia soon i wanna know how i manually lock my head lights in the up position, I have a 1998 3.8 firebird, any help would be appreciated i know its something simple and stupid but i really need ot know and i can always count on this place to get me the answers, thanks for being around guys and girls.....
huh, never heard of having to do that, but i guess it makes sense..
what you want to do is pop your hood, open the "top" fuse box... turn your lights on so they are up, and pull the fuses for the motors..
i think they are 15amp, it should read; left headlamp/right headlamp
i might do this as well.....

I have owned Firebirds since 1985. I live near Boston. I have never had to do this or had any problem having them open. I do not think this is required and I also think it looks really stupid to drive around that way. Just my opinion.

If you want to keep your headlights deployed to prevent damaging the plastic spur gear in the motors, it's very simple. Turn your headlights on to deploy them, then disconnect the door control module weatherpack connection. They will stay up. The control module is near your ABS control and power steering reservoir. It has two connections. Disconnect the one with four wires. To restore normal function, turn headlights on, make the connection, then turn headlighs off and they will stow. Shame on your dealer for not knowing this. Bunch of morons.
You can manually open the headlight doors by removing the rubber cover on top of the the headlight door control module. Then turn the knob in the direction as indicated by the arrow. Get acquainted with this, you will need it if you ever have to do the "headlight fix".
