you might want to check the dlc on your car if its like mine 95 3.4 its and obd2 plug if it is you need a scanner a little more advanced but im not sure you could always try autozone and see if their cheap little scanner works but again it depends on the plug
im pretty shure the 94 cars still had the OBD1 plug cause the code reader i bought plugs in its just not thorwing a code at least from what im doing at least, you prob got screwed cause your car has the OBD2 plug but and OBD1 computer right?

ok, so i bought an actron GM OBD1 code reader good for all GM's from 82-95 except for caddy's for 28 at advance, so i go home plug the thing in follow all the instructions to the T and the SES light is supposed to blink in a sequence to tell you the code, well nothing happened at all, so i start the car cold, starts great runs smooth no bogging nothing, let it warm to operating temp, shut it off, start it and the surging begins, so i pull it back in, pull the #2 plug and it is fouled all to hell, so the thing is obviously running pig rich for some reason and its not throwing a code, so i put the old oxygen sensors back in, start the car once it cooled down and the SES light comes on again, thing runs great until i shut it off and start again and it starts to run like **** again, i did before the tune up disconnect the battery would this possibly cause the ECM to have a **** fit, run rich and not throw a code or is that not plausible? i am really perplexed :(
well if the plug is fouled, that will cause a misfire and the car will run rich since that cylinder isnt firing correctly or at all, the injector for that cylinder is just dumping fuel. check all the plugs and try replacing them again with new ones (ac delcos). you have to dissconnect the battery before doing plugs so i doubt the ecm is having a fit.
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

94s are obd1 plugs. the code reader will only read the codes if the ses light is on in obd1 cars.
95s you need the obd2 connector to use the obd1 scanner

you might just have a bad plug wire. You said the wires were plugged securely.
The only way to check this for sure is to disconnect the wire from the plug totally and plug it back in firmly. Just giving the plug wire a little tug can be deceiving. Go through each plug and disconnect and reconnect the wire. Then go to you coils and do the same thing. At this time I would ALSO check to be sure you have the right plug wire in the right place.
If you have only one plug that is fouled then I would get a spark tester. It's this little thing that you put in place of the plug on the end of the wire. You adjust the gap to a certain amount and check for an arc. This will tell you if you have good spark.
You mention that the car runs fine until it reaches operating temp. This makes me think you have a bad coil. Sometimes when they go bad they work fine while cool but once they have some heat in them it causes a misfire.
Maybe one of these ideas can help ya.

Tech 1 adapter. 35 bucks at autozone last time I checked, then ask to use their OBD2 scanner.
Also check the Crank position sensor and cam position sensor.
thanx for all the good advice guys, i am going to check all the plugs today, i am assuming that they will all be fouled i will look into the tech 1 adapter and borrow my friends OBD2 scanner to see if i can get a code out of it, i was reading the OBD1 code reader manual and it syas that if the SES light dosnet pulse when the reader i splugged in there is a problem that needs to be fixed and it refers to a service manual, i am goin to go buy the haynes manual today and see what thats all about, once again thanx for all the help :)

not trying to be a total ****, but double check the firing order of your wires. Mine did the same type of thing and it turns out I goofed. All is good now.
did youre car run completley smooth though when you first started it, cause mine ohas no signs of a misfire or that the wires are crossed cause it runs smooth as can be, its once i shut it off and restart is when i have the problems, i will check but i dont think i would run worth a **** if that was the case right?
