ok so i gave my 3.4 camaro with 200K on it a tune up today, including new bosch platinum 2's #4302, new bosch oxygen sensors, and plug wires, so i start the car up and it starts great no popping spitting like before, nice and smooth, and of course the SES light is on now and it was not before, so i back it out go down the road car runs great, no missing anything, so i get back let it idle for a minute then shut it off, at this point its warmed to about 160, next i start it back up and the thing is missing and chugging worse than before, it takes about 15 seconds for the car to actually idle and smooth out, then when you give it a little gas it hesitates and then revs up, so when it was cold it ran fine and once it warms up it runs like ****, so do you guys think its fuel related or ignition related problem? coil packs probably are original as well as the fuel pump and other fuel related items

        Re: wtf???

not to be a d1ck. but from now on, do not just name the thread wtf. i will lock it. doing that makes people not want to look at it and help you and for future users wont help them if/when they search. youre still pretty new so ill cut you a break. but please dont do it for the sake of everyone here.

          Re: wtf???

go buy an OBD 1 scanner. i here they are only like 30bucks. there is a good chance your buddy will not have one. fords do not use them and since it is such an old technology, they probably threw it away or a tech who owned a gm car stole it.

There's your problem. You can't go wrong with any version of AC Delco plugs and I hear NGK is good. I had platinum 2's and they sucked @$$.

              Re: car running rough

i agree. bosch plugs are junk. i ran them in my 3.4 and they gave me nothing but problems. swapped them out for ac delcos and all was good.

first, sorry about the title, that was how i felt at the time and what you said makes alot of sense about future searches, second the plug issue sounds plausible but would it cause the SES light to come on?, lastly if the OBD1 scanner is that cheap i will have on tommorow, any other possible causes or answers would be greatly appreciated, thanx

those o2s also. bosch o2s are hit or miss from what ive read. i use them now, and they are fine, soon as i get the money theyre coming out though for ac delcos.

                      Re: car running rough

they should. they cost a bit more IIRC and thats why i went with the bosch's because i needed them at the time and had only so much money to work with. if not im sure you can find them online at gmpartsdirect.com.

one thing i do remember now is as soon as i started the car the rad fan came on and was running the whole time even tho the car wasnt at operating temp, is there anykind of coolant temp sensor that would affect the air/fuel mixture going into the motor causing it to run to rich?

                              Re: car running rough

ok, so i bought an actron GM OBD1 code reader good for all GM's from 82-95 except for caddy's for 28 at advance, so i go home plug the thing in follow all the instructions to the T and the SES light is supposed to blink in a sequence to tell you the code, well nothing happened at all, so i start the car cold, starts great runs smooth no bogging nothing, let it warm to operating temp, shut it off, start it and the surging begins, so i pull it back in, pull the #2 plug and it is fouled all to hell, so the thing is obviously running pig rich for some reason and its not throwing a code, so i put the old oxygen sensors back in, start the car once it cooled down and the SES light comes on again, thing runs great until i shut it off and start again and it starts to run like **** again, i did before the tune up disconnect the battery would this possibly cause the ECM to have a **** fit, run rich and not throw a code or is that not plausible? i am really perplexed :(
