    Re: car running rough

ok it really sucks being at school and not being able to test plausible causes of my misfire while im at school, so far i havent had time to do any diagnosing the only other thing i have noticed is that when i start the car when its bone cold it runs for bout 5 seconds than the motor dips a little like the fan is kicking on and then the SES light comes on, so i got out and sure enough the rad fan is on and the car def has no temp yet, the guage appears to be working, could a faulty temp switch be causing my car to be running rich and the fan kicking on or am i just dreaming stuff up?? any speculations are welcome i am making a list of things im going to test when can go home :(

I love when people want help from others but won't take the time to get their code scanned. And they wonder why no one has a solution.

CAR IS NOT REGISTERED YET!! i bought the OBD 1 code reader, it didnt work im going to try grounding the two prongs in the ALDL and see if that makes the SES light flash, i expalined symptoms earlier in the thread, ive searched this site and came up pretty empty handed, all im looking for is some possible causes that i can test when i am at home im not used to this OBD ****, i am used to working on my carbed 76 alot easier to diagnose and repair

            Re: car running rough

if my ****ing SES light would blink i would have a much better chance of diagnosing what is wrong it dosent even blink code 12 to signify everthing is functioning ive explained this earlier in the thread!!!

if the rpms drop after 5 seconds of starting it that is normal

                Re: car running rough

no they just dip slightly and then pick up like when your fan kicks on which it is which shouldnt be happening when the car has been running for 5 seconds and its 45 outside correct? i know this is a sketchy thread cause i dont have a code to go off of right now but if i cant get a code out of it guessing is as good as i can do until i start testing things out
