what does this do?

One of my friends and i have tried to figure this out since he bought his camaro...1995 RS 3800 camaro...down by his cigarette lighter, i think thats where its at...it has a swtich that says "second gear start" or sumthin like that....whats it do and how do u make it work cause we cant tell a difference with it on or off. Thanks

For low traction conditions i believe
It starts out in 2nd, instead of 1st

AKA lugging the engine (in high amounts) is bad

the transmission starts in 2nd gear instead of first...you should definitely see slower acceleration when it's on if it works. It's for traction in bad weather

also the RS wasn't available until 1996??

there isn't really much of a point to this button. You can just be more careful in first and not slip the tires. Anyway, I don't even have to floor it with 2nd gear start on and my posi in dry conditions for my tires to loose traction anyway.
