• Camaro FogLights are a P.I.T.A.!

Had to change them, and forgot how much of a pain in the anatomy they are. I don't remember the last time I replaced them, but I will NOT just replace one. If one burns out, they both get replaced.

Anyway, has anyone found an easier way to replace them on the 93-97 yet (besides buying another car), or have some helpful hints??

Method 1 works great until you drop a platic clip into the front fascia assembly. Then it's on to Method 2.

The reason that 93-97 camaro foglights are extremely difficult to change is because of a concept called 'headlight karma.' Since the high beams and low beams are so accesible, the chevy engineers had to design a foglamp that would be next to impossible to remove. They did this to keep the balance of good and bad karma in the universe constant.

If they had made all the lights easy to service, they would have been adding too much good karma into the world. The universe would have to compensate by killing a kitten or two. Otherwise, they could have made the foglamp holes 3/4" wider and made the job ten times easier.

Keep in mind that the whole tailight assembly can be changed out without a single hand tool! They got it right on almost all the other lights, just not the foggers. So next time you're on your back with an arm up the back side of your cars front end, fumbling to push the clip through the hole like a drunk 17 year old on prom night, think about all the kittens your saving.

On a somewhat related note, both of my reverse lights went out within two days of each other. They were due for a replacement, but so close together? Coincidence or extremely consistent parts manufacturing? Hmmmm.............

Changing my fog lights had to be one of the easiest things I've done. Go from the front,,not the back. Just remove the clips and aiming screws..very simple. Just make sure to hold onto the clips with a needle nose, so they don't fall down. It took about 4 minutes to change both fog lights, and re-aim them. Good luck.

I agree, the foglights were easy to replace compared to some of the other things i've done...

i replaced one of mine the other day, and just didnt put that b|tch pin back in. light holds fine, both clips are back in, but the retainer pin closest to the center of the car i just left out. too much of a PITA to put back in for the slight benifit i may get.

You guys have clips??? Consider yourselves lucky... On my bird, they use phillups head screws, so the only possible way to loosen or tighten them, is with some type of right angle tool. And than you only have a 5 degree arc, so it takes about an hour to unscrew, because they even decided to use a very fine thread screw about an inch and a half long. (w68 package)

User1101 is right, the only thing they did get right was the tailights... The cost of looks.
