another valvetrain noise clip - what does this sound like?

recently, my car started making this sound just after starting up . just as the rpms die down, the sound starts up. it continues for a good minute if the car is cold (sitting overnight) or maybe 20 seconds if the car is not so cold (sitting for a few hours). if the car sits for less than two hours before starting up, there is no trace of the sound.

i removed the belt and the sound persists.

when i bought the car, i (heavily) invested in a warranty. so i removed all nitrous equipment (see stock airlid) and have receipts showing regular oil changes... but before i take it to a shop, i'd like to know what you think. have you heard this before - what the hell is it?

almost sounds like an exhaust leak.

if not that a rocker knock....

doesnt sound like a lifter at all

Definately an exhaust leak
I hear whistle and that all too familiar sound of a nice sized exhaust leak

i forgot to mention that i smelled exhaust fumes when i was taking this video.
so when it goes away, it is likely because the metal has heated up and expanded.

an exhaust leak could be considered wear and tear of a gasket/seal - not covered under a warranty..

any suggestions on how to get it repaired? i'm thinking its the egr now.

get a tube of some sort.
pvc piping.. any piping will work hold it up to your ear!
A stethoscope will work, try to find out where its coming from first!!

easiest way to find a leak....sea foam

seafoam your motor...and the smoke will show you exactly where your leak is.

Deffinetely an exhaust leak, especially since it stops when it warms up, time for some headers :) "I need some to, I have a few annoying leaks"

It probably is an exhaust leak, didn't listen, but I wanted to mention there are other things that will cause an engine to tick for a bit until it gets a little warm. Carbon build up. just a FF ( fun fact)

carbon build up in where? just anywhere period?
carbon build up is bad for detonation but good for CR and other things (bad memory, but I can look it up)

That's true but you do have to listen to the clip, if something was ticking this bad I wouldn;t know how his motor is still together, lol

easiest way to tell would be to just pull the egr tube from the manifold and temporarily block off the manifold inlet (small metal plage with a hole drilled in it and some rtv). if the egr is your problem the noise will probably go away. i would suggest deleging the egr and using an egr delete sim... in fact i think theres one for sale in the forsale section at this very moment.
