  • Rear Differential

Between my last post and this one I have been racing and an increasing concern of mine is how terrible ly traction is. My car is basically stock and when i gun it i spin the tire for quite a while. I was wondering how many of you have this problem and also what the practicality of buying a rear end with posi would be? It is a big problem and i really want that traction. Might traction bars be enough to correct this problem? If i were to find a new rrear end with posi at a junk yard (say from off a z28) could i just slap that on my car and go? Might i just want to stick with just a new rear differential?
There is fast, too fast, and way too fast. Way too fast is almost fast enough.

by traction bars do you mean LCA's? im pretty sure track bars are for cars with leaf springs (i know a lot of 4th gen f-body guys and none of them have track bars) LCA's will help though

if you get a Z28's rearend make sure that its from a manual car so you wont get stuck with a 2.73 gear. however when you take a rearend from a manual car you will get a 3.42 gear, so your spedo will have to be recalibrated

or you can get a take off LSD diff for around 100

you can get one from a auto as well, just either make sure its from a SS/Ws6/Hawk, as they have 323's or check the door for the codes "GU5"

usually for 200-300 you can get an entire rear with gears, check ebay, lots of salvage yards on there. its definately worth it to get posi, especially if you plan on adding mods

SLP take-off differential, a new torque arm, and new control arms.

LCA = lower controll arms, all the sponsors should have them

you can get an LSD cheap from AMM (check the sponsors section)

So what might some of you recommend as the cheapest way to get either posi or just a good grip on the ground (something that might be easy enough to instal for even a car illiterate kid with a chilton guide)? Keeping in mind however that I will me modifying my car and I most likely will want posi. Also, does anyone else have this problem because I have descent tires but my grip is just terrible and my car is stock save a k&n filter?

if you can turn a wrench you can put new LCA's on a car, 2 bolts on each side , and they will deffinetly help your car with getting traction
