    Re: Bad Coil Pack???

I have a '97 Firebird 3.8 with 75000. I've got the original coil packs, but have changed the plug wires twice. The first set were OEM replacements (Bosch 7mm), the newest are Accel 8mm. No problems since. Besides, 6 wires are cheaper than 3 coil packs...

Well I decided today to replace all three coil packs. I was not sure which one was causing the problem, and since it was intermittent it was very hard to figure it out. For less then $80 it was worth it.

Very easy to install, took my time and cleaned everything really well.

Running great now, hopefully the problem is solved. I will let you know.

another thing you should consider is the ignitin module and the wires.. over time the module goes out.. thought youd see the misfire at all tiems, not just on occasions.. to test, take it to an autozne and they cna test hte module for free...

also, the wire ends could be damaged.. so if thats the case, they wont make good contact, thus the intermittent misfire...

good luck with it.. it soudns like you have the problem pretty much narrowed down to start with.. not much else it can be really...
