Over the last few weeks Ive been noticing a whirring noise coming from the engine but I couldnt pinpoint what it was. Today I started my car and immediately there was a high pitch shrieking coming from under the hood. Well, I pulled my belt off and spanked my car. Then I pulled the fan belt off ( ;) ) and looked first at the tensioner pulley. First I noticed a big piece of plastic that apears to be peices of belt that got really hot and melted together and was wrapped around the non-moving shaft near the pulley. Then I noticed that the pulley would not spin at all. The belt was just rubbing over it...so that is what the noise was.
My question: How do I fix this? Can I repair the pulley or do I need to buy a new one? How do I go about replacing it?
Thanks a bunch guys. Even though I don't hang out here anymore, i know I can trust you all to help anyone in an emergency (this being an emergency cause I need to go to work tonight.)
