I have a '98 camaro...when it gets dark enough out, well like around sunset my headlights automatically come on by a sensor im guessing? Is there anyway i can get rid of this "light" sensor so I just turn them on by the headlight dial thing? I have LED's in my interior that only run when the accessories are on, but if its too dark where im at my headlights come on and it kills my battery.

your headlights kill your battery? maybe need a new alternator?

Do they turn on when your car is parked?

you can get bypass the light sensor....do a search but i dont think that those lights are the problem. sounds like you have a charging or battery problem.

Nooo totally misunderstood that lol...


I have alot of LED lights that I like to keep on ...for them to be on the accessories must be on ( NOTE: Car NOT started) When I turn the accessories on at night time the headlights come on with them because of the sensors...note this is all with the car NOT started, its just fine when its started.

I know the sensor cant be the headlight itsself because I have Halo's...

any ideas?

The headlights shouldn't come on until you release your ebrake, even when the car is running.

well, if the engine isnt running like you said, the you can use pull the ebrake before turning the ignition to run and it will keep the sensor from being activated. i think that was his point.

Yes theyre right. Most of the time I believe, pulling the ebrake a couple of nothces usually disables the automatic headlight function till its released.

the sensor is called a twlight sensor most of them are in the dash you should just be able to unplug it.

besides, pulling the e-brake is a good idea if your on anytype of slant. auto or not. It keeps the transmission from supporting the weight of your car....

Why not just turn the key backwards instead of forwards? The ignition is like this, accessories, off, run, start. Your using Run to run your accessoris. This energizes everyy thing in the engine area, fuel pump etc. Why not just turn the key backwards one notch?

Keep playing with. When i got my car i guess the last owner never used it, as it to would not stay back. I kept messing with it and it works great now. So keep trying and im sure it will start working and get easyer each time you use it.
