Check power steering fluid first. A quick test to see if it's a belt- take a small wire brush and hold it against each side of the belt while the car is running. If the noise goes away, you have a belt issue.

Each side meaning the grooved side and the opposite smooth side. The sides that touch the pulleys.

You can buy belt dressing to make belt squeels go away. cheap, easy, effective. Assuming, of course, the belt does not need to be changed.

Belt dressings just get crap inside the pulley bearings and eventually screw them up too. Besides, dressing is just like a bandaid. It doesn't fix anything, it just covers it up. If your belt is making noise, it needs to be changed.

pluse, most belt dressings say not for serpentine belts. Also, at least mine, are packed and pressed in and you cant repack them without a huge ordeal. You cant get to the bearings because they are sealed.

Take off your belt and see if there is a squeel, check your powersteering and just for s***'s and giggles maybe check your brake pads if all else fails.

Mine squeeled (sounded like from hood area when driving) when they were worn down. It also did it most often when turning.

I have seen belts that were perfectly fine, just noisy. Yeah, something was wrong somewhere (too tight, pulley not correctly aligned), but the dressing was an appropriate "fix" for the short term. A squeeling belt does not "need" to be changed - it may need to be changed.
