I am guessing that you don't have a Haynes or a Chilton's manual. Someone may scan the pages that tell how to do it.

Yeah, it probably isn't very descriptive. A Chilton's manual would be much better.

Rear main seal? Like on the transmission? All you gotta do is get a flat head screwdriver and ply it out. Make sure u have a oil pan under it. Then bang the new one back in gently using a plywood and a hammer.

I believe he's refering to the rear main seal on the engine. Requires removing the transmission. Good luck.

If you talking about the rear main engine seal. Just take it to the mechanic you trust the most. you will have to totally remove the transmission. Pop out the seal, pop a new one in. In the box with the rear main seal it comes with a gasket which goes right above the rear main seal, Go ahead and do it while you got the transmission off. Put transmission back on and your done. I went a head a put a new rear seal in my transmission since i had it off, figures whats another few buck, nows the time to do it. I have a few pics of us doing mine

I could email them to you, if you have a fast connection. Whats your email address, im not sure how else to post them. As for how long it will last my car has 100k when i bought it, i had to replace a few seals and a few gaskets. I now have 105k every thing is all good. Id say they should last atleat another 100k. I treat this car and my others like babys. Personaly i dont understand why nonthing lasts as long as it should on our camaros. I like to refer to my 95 silverado, i bought it new, it now has well over 100k and have had no major problems which i could not take care of in an hour in my drive way.

they told me mine was bad, but after we changed it it was still leaking bad....like no diffrece at all. truns out it was oil pan gasket....and valve cover gaskets.

ok i sent you the pics.. hope they give you an idea what every thing looks like with transmission removed. oh and if you change the oil pan gaske, you have to remove transmission, take engine mount bolts out and raise the engine a few inchs to make room to remove the pan. Change the valve cover gaskets are not fun, not the blood drops on the engine in my pics. i have a few others but dont wanna over do your inbox, these are the most basic
