MPG and Mileage...

When i bought my bird it had 105,000 miles on it and was getting but 175-200 miles to the tank. I put did the basic tune-ups (autolite double plat. plugs, new borg-warner wires, new fram air filter, changed oil to mobile 1 full synthetic and put a nice doubleguard oil filter on(dont know if that would help or not former owner was running crappy cheap stuff), i did place a new fuel filter on just for the heck of things while i was at everything else still had oem filter on it, but i didnt replace the coils but i did remove them and wirebrush/sand the bit of rust that was on them and now im getting 300 miles to the tank evenly now and im sitting at 107,000 miles, and im getting 18 mpg on a manual.

So basically, bottom line, im just wondering what people are getting to the gallon... and if anyone knows any tricks of the trade to help fuel milage a bit(not saying there are any, but never hurts to ask).

what year is your car? ....... with my 96 , first when I bought it , i used to get about 190-200 tank ........ then i changed my oxygen sensors because of the ses light and it bumped to 280 miles/tank ........ crazy, right! ....... with my 98, i get about 310 Mile/tank .........fillup is like 14.5 gallons that means i can easily get 330-340 to a full tank (15.5 gallons) .........

O yeah sry forgot to mention its a 2000 so i have the newer 16.8g fuel tanks. I was thinking about changing my oxygen sensor but someone told me my car will let me know when it needs to be changed and they cost about 50 bucks so im still indecisive on changing that or not...

and sometimes i do ride the rpms high for the feeling and fun before i shift so thats prolly cutting me 25-50 more miles on my tank also...

depends on what year car you have. the 95-99 have metal tanks that are smaller, 00+ have plastic tanks that are bigger

i get about 30ish in the city and 32ish in on the highway. it dropped a tad and i need to find out why :mad:

last time i measured, with mixed in town and highway, and a few short wot runs for passing, i got 26.8mpg -1996. I probably about due for a tune up too.

They are not currently used. I was going to use them for some secret stuff ;) but I have pretty much changed my mind. Who knows though, I might get bored and have a reason to use them :D

i also get around 200 miles, im pretty sure im running rich because when i get out of the car i can always smell gas. What could be the problem?

1) dirty/clogged air filter
2) wrong timing
3) wrong idle speed
4) low tire pressure
5) fuel leakage
6) dirty/clogged injectors
7) old o2s
8) other LoL

Ive been getting about 300 per tank.

usually comes out to about 22mpg or so, with my driving style.

if i realllllllly baby the car i can get 35mpg
