97 3.8 about 360+ to the tank but that is with higher test gasoline and all highway miles with cruise control ... if run 87 it drops to about 350 or little lower
I get lousy mileage. I usually get about 210 per tank, city driving. New plugs, wires, and coils. Since I've had it, the car has always had a hard start. Could that be a fuel pressure problem?
When i first got the car in June, i could go 2 whole weeks on a full tank. , now i have to fill up about every week. My dad siad it was becuase of the cold weather and the motor isnt getting as warm.. i dunno. I just replaced the MAF so that added a few mpg.
Your dad is right. If your engine doesn't get to full operating temp, the fuel consumption increases.
Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)
I usually get like 23 or so. I run Super (93 or 91, depending on the station) gasoline, and I do NOT baby this thing :D . And that's a about 1/2 city 1/2 highway miles (15 highway, plus usually another 20 or more city). I just SeaFoamed, changed the oil, the coolant, the tranny fluid, and replaced my plugs (had Basch Platinums, oh noez!!) with NGK Tr55's, so once I have enough money to get a full tank, I'll check my mileage :P . If I did baby it, I wouldn't be surprised to get 35mpg

I have noticed that too my car is like majorly cold-blooded... my thermo is a195 like it should be at but it takes a good 15-20mins driving it before it even gets to like 150-160. In the mornings my girlfriend is like can i go start your car i cant stand it being soo cold going to school like 10 minutes before we leave... and gah i hate that ive heard one of the worst things you can do to a car is letting it idle more than a minute, is it true? And exactly what can i do to help the morning coldness if there is anything? o yeah i live in va and our mornings are anywhere from 15-25 degrees in the morning and i noticed a loud squeeling noise coming from the engine when i start it up... figure thats normal with the damn cold weather.
yeah letting the engine warm up first helps it seal up better taking off as soon as started is bad for every moving part. my cars the same way and i live in phoenix even when its warmed up the heat doesnt blow any higher than 100 and thats on the low setting but i think i have blend door issues.
You could let it idle for a minute and then bring the rpm up to 1500 for a wile that will help warm it up quicker.
it is freezing now in ohio...(compaired to our reg weather) but i wake up and start my car, and let it idle for 10 mins with no heat on or anything... and when i come out to it, it is usually good to go.
my milage was like 275 i think, in a 94 3.4 stick, and i drive it hard every once in a while... i badly need to get a new air filter, amd am going to seafoam the car as soon as warm weather comes around.... my injectors have to be sick
I was getting about 27 to 30 MPG or about 300 miles with having a 1/4 of a tank left. I put on a set of Pacesetters and a 3"in/3"out Catco, 3" S-Pipe, 3" intermediate pipe, and the rest is 2.5" American Thunder. I didn't get the chance to drive it till I got back fron China and this cold weather has set in. It was down to 20 MPG. So yesterday I found that 4 of the plug wires were burnt. I have not thrown a misfire code or anything. I put on new MSD 90* boots. I have a trip to Sioux Center tomorrow thats about 800 miles round trip so I'll let everyone know what I get.
what you do not want to do is jump in and take off
Yes you can start up and take off, but it all depends on how you take off. I never let my car warm up. Even in the most extreme temperatures. But I also don't put a lot of demands on the engine until I have indication of temperature rise on the gauge.
I start the engine. Let everything stabilize for about 20-30 seconds. Then I start to drive. The route I take out of the housing development that I live in is low speed (not higher than 50 km/hr) and does't require high power or RPM to accelerate. For me this has proven to be the best way to warm up the car. I have operated all my cars this way. Each and every one of them made it to high mileage (above 200,000-300,000 kms) without any problems that could be attributed to cold running. But, I also use a block heater in the coldest weather, so my engines very rarely see absolute cold starts.
It would not be wise to start a cold engine, then subject it to high power and RPMs. But light duty when cold is not a problem.
I found that letting an engine idle for long periods of time to warm it up kills gas milage and it also isn't so great for the enviroment. Starting to see lots of "No Idle Zone" signs popping up around town now. Getting to be a big no-no nowadays!

Wow? Really thats pretty funny... we just started getting emissions test req. for our car to pass inspection wonder if those signs are going to start popping up around here.

I'm the second owner, purchased in late 1997. As for mileage, the odometer stopped long ago though actual mileage is 250k+ (the trip odometer functions properly). Many small issues but she is still my daily driver.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends...
