        Re: MPG and Mileage...

I have a 94 3.4 A4 and when I bought it at 142,000 miles I was getting 16-17mpg in the city. After Seafoaming the car, adding a custom K&N intake, and a 180 thermostat I am getting around 18-20mpg in the city and 29 on the highway. I wonder how much my new exhaust is going to effect my mpg's?

SeaFoam does wonders for my MkVIII Intech Lincoln!
            Seems to help 3.8's, also?

Driven moderately aggressive, my 2000 gets about 300 miles on 16 gals... no highway driving, so I'm not sure about that.

                Re: MPG and Mileage...

Blitzed around the Beltway with 98 Camaro new purchase today.

Stuck in VA as usual, some stop and go, tested the max noise limit of the Borla.

28 mpg in 202 mile trip, part freeway, part traffic, and part stupid glee.

I may have had more fun than since the Blue Ridge pkwy in a 164 Alfa. Never knew these cars steered with this type of transient response, but I bought her for the 3800 and MPG so I am delighted. Engine note isnt music, more like an MG's pushrods, but familiar from an old Starfire of mine.

But, that is for another thread. Unjacking this one...

                  Re: MPG and Mileage...

When I last posted on this thread I was down to 20 MPG. Now that I changed the burnt plug wires, I'm up. This last week I was getting about 29 running 75 on the interstate and the temp was around 45*. On my return trip home the temp was lower and it was raining and I got around 25 MPG.

As far as gas goes I always run 91-93 what ever I can get. I have checked my mpg many times on this car and my last. It doesn't seem to change. But I feel at maybe $3.50 per tank differance the higher octane fuel keeps the lines and injectors clean.

                    Re: MPG and Mileage...

I think I've already posted in this thread, but o well I'll post again. My 97 3.8 gets over 20MPG EVERY time. And I'm hard as hell on it. I cruise the interstate in 4th, just so I can whip around all the semi's really quick :D That's about the only time I get into 4th too, in town doing 50-60 in 3rd. Just because I like the instant throttle response I get. I know it's not the best for my engine, but o well. When the time comes, I'll buy a new engine. I know that if I babied my car, I could easily get over 30MPG highway. Best so far has been 29, driving the way I said.
