• 160 thermostat question???????

Do you need a power programer after you do the 160 thermostat to be effective? I live in south Fla where is is just about always hott 160 or 180?

The 160 should do it...it just keeps the engine a little cooler. No programmer needed.

No programmer needed, but it will adjust your fan turn on temps. There's a post somewhere, or check out Dominic's site. It's rather thorough.

If you do a search on this topic you will get a lot of info.

I can tell you from experience that in a 2001 and a 2002 if you run a 160 without an 18K ohm resistor bridging the IAT sensor you will get an SES light, loose your temp gauge and both fans will come on high. The 180 will not do this. As was said, check Dominic's site. You can also get a resistor from him.

The HPP3 is handy for adjusting the fan temps, since the stock fans tend to come on rather high.

The stock radiator is inefficient without a good amount of wind (i.e. cruising down the interstate). With the 160 stat your temps will be lower while cruising, but they'll raise pretty fast because the radiator is so small.

To counteract this problem and allow the 160stat to work right you need a larger radiator and/or a way to change when the fans come on. A simple manual fan switch works great for this, but the HPP3 will keep it below 195 in the city instead of below 225 like stock

              Your choice.
