  • Idle RPM

Where does your car idle at? Mine idles at about 900 to 1000 rpm and that seems like too much to me. The plugs and wires haven't been changed in a while so I'm figuring it's that, any other possible reasons?

I have a 1994 Firebird and it idles right around that speed. After my tune up it slowed just a bit, but not enough to really notice.

You don't have anything to worry about.

Keep in mind that the stock tach is generally about 2-300 rpm's off. My car idles at 725 according to a tech2 scanner, but the tach shows about 900.

SPED 214 is right, I do not know of any F-Body that has an "accurate" Tach, any type of code scanner/computer will reveal that the actual engine rpm is almost always about 300 rpm's below what the dash shows

According to my tach, I idle at 700rpm's. My tach must be accurate, because if it was what ya'll say, my car would be idling at like 400rpm's, which I doubt :D
