Oil pressure is perfect...usually right around the middle of the dial once its warm. At a cold start, it is higher - probably around 80 lbs.

Yes, but since its a 3800, my oil is always low.

Equus 3110 Innova (just got it today):
                    http://www.amazon.com/Equus-3110-Dia...8&s=automotive

Not all of that came out of the tool, though...alot of that was my input into the program (ie, "driving habbits" and "problem first noticed") but it gives you a form to put that all in and you can hook it to your computer to generate those reports.

It also displays the Code Definition on the unit's screen while you are plugged into the car and saves that data on the unit even when you unplug.

The best part though, is that I NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO GO TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE MY SES LIGHT TURNED OFF!!!!

As a side note: I will be getting rid of this car in the next two days. I have lined up a loan and already know what car I am going to get.

I went outside tonight to try to clean out the EGR ports and while trying to unscrew one of the slinky-looking tubes from the exhaust manifold, the rusty screw snapped in half...so my EGR valve isn't even hooked up all the way now.

Hopefully Carmax won't notice that when I bring it in to them to get rid of it.

synthetic oil is a must with the 1.8t... i wouldnt buy anything with that engine in it if it had ever touched anything else... it doesnt really matter even if you change it every 3k... conventional oil will ruin that engine...

Right...that's what I figured out. Buying one used, then obviously becomes scary as most people just go to jiffy lube and ask for the special of the day.

I'm guessing this is an intake gasket problem?
That looks like an oil filler neck and the associated cap, most commonly used to add engine oil to your engine.

So the verdict of this problem is coolant leaking into the oil it seems right? Is the original coolant being used Dex-Cool or regular Prestone Green? I am only seeing guesses and not the main root problem being pinpointed, maybe the resident GM benchtech here is on the money but I am not convinced. I know, it will take time to find the culprit but the accompanying pictures seem to be a trend in our 3.8L motors if I am not wrong. Another strike for Dex-Cool because I have yet to see green coolant look like that.

I would expect some part numbers displayed here to help the dude out and a long list of items to remedy his problem. A trip to the dealership would most likely fix it for an outrageous cost and we would eventually see the list of actual parts used to fix it however I think it would be a good idea for this and any F-Body enthusiasts forum to start displaying more part numbers here to help each other out, plus save us a lot of cash in the process. There's gotta be somebody out there purchasing GM parts or cross referencing from NAPA Auto for example.

Just my .02 cents, back to the garage and into my '88 Z-28. Royal Purple oil change, plugs, wires and coil.
