I went to my local auto parts store and got a refirbished one for 120, its like brand new. Try your local shops, they might be able to get a good deal on one

I would strongly STRONGLY advise you not to buy it from Advance Auto. I made that mistake. I went through 9 alternators from 4 different Advance stores in one day just trying to find one that worked right. 4 alts wouldn't charge, and 4 of em whined like crazy and charged to like 18-19 on my gauges. Finally found one that worked right, but the machine in the store said the new alt wasn't charging at all. Go figure. Save yourself the hassle and buy one somewhere else.

I got mine replaced for $200 including labor at a local shop. You can do it yourself, but either way it isn't too expensive.

http://www.alternatorparts.com/cs130_&_cs130d_alt.htm - Should be what you need. You do not want the 1 wire.

Keep in mind, when an alternator goes bad, it's normally just the bearing, or more likely the regulator. The reason most auto shops (pep boys, advance etc) want a core return is because it is a 10$ part. They charge you 120$ for a "remanufactured" alternator. They will take your broken alternator, and in most cases replace the bearing or regulator and then sell your unit for 120$. Just food for thought.

Haven't heard much about rebuild kits. Just replaced my Villager alternator from Autozone Cost me 'round 190, tax and all.
Brought the old one in so no core charge. Works great....lifetime Warranty. If it blows up...I get a new one.... Can't beat that!

i bought the duralast gold from advance auto. it claims to be all new parts. after about a year, i noticed a ticking sound during idle. bad bearings of course. i just swapped for another at the store -- no questions asked. changing the alternator is pretty easy and only takes about 15 minutes.

and to be honest, the idler/tensioner pulleys were just as loud. i replaced them too while i was there.

thanks everyone. i replaced it yesterday. i got it from alterstart.(posted above) www.4alterstart.com
since they are only 20 mins from my house.
i got the 180amp for $180 plus 4guage cable $25
total $225 with 2 year warranty.

it was easy to change but harder to do when it is still hot.

btw they have 105amp stock alternators for $97.
