  • problem with key fob remote

i bought an extra key fob remote so i could have a spare, and i followed the instructions on the installuniversity site, but its not working. i turn the key from on/off three times within 5 secnods and everything locks/unlocks as usual, but then when i leave it in the on position, and hold down the lock/unlock on the fob... nothing happens. i already checked the battery on the fob and its brand new (and yes i remembered to take the radio fuse out) any ideas? UGH! i tried it on my brothers camaro as well, and still nothing...

I thought you had to hold down lock and unlock for awhile while the key is in the RUN position?
I just did it on mine recently without reading anything (just from memory) and it worked

ok.... so I forgot to mention 1 step.. big deal

          1) put key in RUN position, then off (disarms the alarm) but you dont have to do this)

          2) remove the Radio fuse from the drivers side next to the gauge cluster ( I have no farking clue why you do this, I've NEVER done this step! )

          3) turn the key from OFF to RUN a good 3 times quickly (vehicle will respond by locking/unlocking doors/hatch)

          4) leave key in RUN position

          5) press and hold the unlock and lock buttons for a good 15 seconds (the vehicle will respond again, as in step 3)

6)repeat step 4/5 for the remaining key fobs

Re: problem with key fob remote

i would say its probably a problem with the fob (broken or dead battery)
