The pulleys are on the front of the motor. Your serpentine belt connects the motor to the pulleys on your accessories (power steering pump, A/C, alt). The pulley set basically changes around the ration between the engine and the accessories to give the engine back a few hp. The pulley set and new belt for them will run around $100.

psh, common you can order them yourself and install is a breeze why have a shop charge you at least 80 for something very very simple.

check out thunderracing or ftpp.net for the pullies

                        Re: How many ponies?

get a Pulley Puller, you can get one at sears.com

                        remove serp belt
use pulley puller to take off crank pulley
                        install new crank pulley
                        put serp belt back on

for a beginner......shouldnt take more than an hour (thats being extremely generous)

I would get the crank and alt pulley, the alt pulley is more easy. do you have air tools?

I will trust u.... while we're on the topic, are there any other mods a noob can do (such as pulleys) that can help increase power without seriously delving into the engine?
