  • AC Problem

Well I like it hot so I usually don't use AC unless its raining for defog or others are in the car since they complain. Well, I go to turn the AC on the other day since my brothers in there and it doesn't get cold. Just lovely scalding hot air. When I get to the house I turn it on and start investigating. The compressor engages I assume because the RPMs jump when I turn it on.

I thought it was a refridgerant leak but when I went to my friend to add some more since he had the gauge and all that, he told me it was actually probably to full. Almost like something was clogging it up somewhere. But of course he doesn't know.

Figured I'd throw this out there and see if anyone may know what the deal is so I don't have to take it to some shop. Someone said maybe the computer was telling it not to activate but that seems kinda stupid in my oppinion since theres no reason I can fathom that the computer would not want the AC on unless it just hates my friends.

If the clutch is kicking in and you're getting hot air, you're either low on refrigerant or there's a blockage... There's a low-pressure cutoff switch wired into the PCM, if the pressure is too low the PCM will keep the clutch from engaging. You can force the compressor on by putting a jumper wire between the connections.

Unless you've got a buddy who's good with working with A/C, a shop is probably your only choice. =/
