Ok, I searched and read just about every thread I could find on keyless remote problems and still I'm not sure if my problem can be fixed or if I need new remotes, so here is what I'm experiencing. The keyless factory remotes for my car seems to only be working when I get close to the car. I have changed the battery 4 times just to be extra sure and it still didn't fix the problem so I know its not a weak or dead battery issue. I have to press the unlock or lock buttons multiple times to get it to work. I have noticed though that if i hold the remote right over the winshield above the dash, it works almost every single time without complaining. I was wondering if our cars have some kind of antenna inside the car to pick up the RF signals from our remotes that might have gone bad? Is that possible? I have also taken the remotes apart and cleaned all the contacts and still I have the same problem. Any suggestions? My car is a 98 Firebird with factory keyless.

Re: Keyless Remote Proximity
my car has the same problems. I think something is not picking up the signal as good anymore or something. I wave it around like a fool sometimes until it opens, lol.

Re: Keyless Remote Proximity
has anyone tried that range extender procedure where you add antena length to the car's reciever?
If you want extra range, then buy a newer and better alarm system2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!
