Ok I want to take out my center console, the part where the shifter is, so that I can wire in two switches and have them right below where the column that displays the D, P, R, 1,2, etc. Where are the bolts exactly located? Any pics would help a LOT. Also, kind of a newbie question, but which gear is better for quickness in my car? The D with the box around it or the lower D that has the car running in higher RPMs?

    Thanks!

    Re: few questions

the bolts that hold the console in are in the console's glovebox you need to open it take the two screws out there than take the one out in the middle of the cd holder compartment, the trim piece around the shifter should pop in bu im not sure cause i dont have an auto, to answer the acceleration Q you want the car in D which is third sicnce the D with the circle around it represents overdrive which is not an a good gear for acceleration thats why you feel the car downshift when you punch it on the highway when the shifter is in the overdrive position, hope that helps

      Re: few questions

Being in overdrive is just as good for acceleration as being in regular drive and it will squeeze out a few decimals of more mpg's if you are always punching it.

Remember, when you punch it, downshifting is a good thing (higher rpm's = more torque)

But, for best acceleration, just manual shift it from 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd and then D. Having a shift light set to the right rpm will also result in you being able to have better shifts and shifting at the proper time more often and will help alot with acceleration, but still this will hurt your mpg.

        Re: few questions

i must of misunderstood the question i thought he meant which gear will provide better acceleration, 3 or 4, i didnt think he meant from a dead stop, yes in that case either gear will provide the same acceleration and yes manually shifting were the car is making peak power provides best acceleration times along with foot breaking the car to load the convertor will give you the best 60 ft times aslong as you hook, good luck :wavey:
